About Hartwick Basketball

Oneonta, New York, United States
Hartwick is among the North East’s elite liberal art colleges both academically and athletically. Hartwick has a reputation of academic excellence and offers a most diverse selection of degree programs, with a strong emphasis on a liberal arts education. Our campus is truly beautiful. We are located on a scenic 425-acre site on the northern slopes of New York’s Catskill Mountains, in Oneonta, a town considered by some experts to be among the top ten best college towns in America. Hartwick offers a small college atmosphere; as the student/faculty ratio is 11 to 1, and the average classroom size is 15. Yet we are only 70 minutes from the state capital, Albany, and two and a half hours from New York City. This setting provides an ideal atmosphere academically, athletically, and socially for the aspiring student-athlete. Combine these facts with tremendous facilities, a great schedule, and a major commitment to the basketball program, and you can see why Hartwick basketball has made the final four and is a true Division III Giant! As a member of the Empire 8 Conference, Hartwick competes successfully in one of the premier Division III conferences in the country.

Suderley reaches 1000 points

Although we did loose last week against Farmingdale State, Jared Suderley did have a career night. Not only did he pick up 40 points in the loss but he also reached 1000 career points at Hartwick College. This is a great accomplishment and we expect great things out of him for his Junior and Senior campaigns.

Hawks season ends with loss to Farmingdale state

Unfortunately our season has ended in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Farmingdale State in overtime beat us 98-88. It was a great season and a major accomplishment of not only making the tournament but winning the Empire 8 regular season title.

Jared Suderley had an amazing night with 40 points and 17 rebounds. Chris Ryder who played his last game as a Hawk had 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Anthony Keane had 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists. Andres Carpio who also played his last game as a hawk had 3 points, and 5 assists. To round out the starting line-up, Mike Geisser had 10 points and 5 assists.

Off the bench Chrisitan Laputka, Aaron Laing, and Mark Blazek saw time. Laputka had 3 points, 3 assists, and a rebound. Laing had 2 points and 2 rebounds. Blazek who is the last of 3 seniors to play their last game as a hawk had 2 points, an assist, and a rebound.

We would like to thank everyone who supported us this season. We would like to thank all the fans who came out to the games and watched us go through a great season. We hope to have the same kind of feeling next season. We would like to also thank our 3 seniors, Mark Blazek, Andres Carpio, and Chris Ryder for everything they have done with the time at Hartwick.
