Hartwick is among the North East’s elite liberal art colleges both academically and athletically. Hartwick has a reputation of academic excellence and offers a most diverse selection of degree programs, with a strong emphasis on a liberal arts education. Our campus is truly beautiful. We are located on a scenic 425-acre site on the northern slopes of New York’s Catskill Mountains, in Oneonta, a town considered by some experts to be among the top ten best college towns in America. Hartwick offers a small college atmosphere; as the student/faculty ratio is 11 to 1, and the average classroom size is 15. Yet we are only 70 minutes from the state capital, Albany, and two and a half hours from New York City. This setting provides an ideal atmosphere academically, athletically, and socially for the aspiring student-athlete. Combine these facts with tremendous facilities, a great schedule, and a major commitment to the basketball program, and you can see why Hartwick basketball has made the final four and is a true Division III Giant! As a member of the Empire 8 Conference, Hartwick competes successfully in one of the premier Division III conferences in the country.

Hartwick 9-0

Last night Hartwick won becoming 9-0. Since it was our last game of the semester, we had a perfect semester. The ending score was 62-49. Although Elms came out hot in the begining of the game with five points, Hartwick would come back and go on a 11-0 run. The run was powered by Anthony Keane who had 7 points in that run. At halftime Hartwick would lead 27-23.

In the second half Elms would cut our lead by two but that was as close as they got. We would then go on another run but this time it was 13-0 and this run was powered by Mark Blazek who had three 3-pointers.

Overall we shot 35.9% from the floor which was significantly better than Elms which shot 24.5% from the floor. Although Elms was near perfect from the line going 17 of 18, while Hartwick would shoot 11 for 18. In addition we would out rebound Elms by 36 to 48.

Anthony Keane played a significant role holding Elm's top scorer to just 5 points. Keane also had 10 points and 3 assists. Jared Suderley had a huge game with 19 rebounds and 13 points. The 19 rebounds would be a college career high for him. Mark Blazek had 21 points and went 4 for 7 from beyond the ark. Chris Ryder had his 2nd consecutive double double with 10 points and 13 rebounds, he would also chip in 3 assists. Christian Laputka had 4 points and 2 steals as well as a block.

Jake Karker, Shiva Senthil, Mike Geisser, Mike Henson, Brendan Griffin, Victor Angeline, Ken Johnson Jr., Jon Zehe, Travis Godley, Matt Petruccione, and Aaron Laing all saw playing time while coming off the bench.

This was the final game for the semester. Hartwick Men's basketball will not play again until December 28 in York , Pennsylvania in the York tournament. We will play at home again January 13 against Ithica college. Overall the Men's and Women's basketball program have a combined record of 16-2.

We would also like to thank the fans for coming out again last night and against the SUNY Oneonta game.

Hartwick now 8-0



Last night we played our cross town rivals SUNY Oneonta. We prevailed with a 57 to 51 win. Although by the end of the 1st half Hartwick would be down 10 points we came back. In the second half we held the Red Dragons to 13 points.


Jared Suderley lead the team with 17 points and added 8 rebounds. Chris Ryder registered a double double with 13 points and 13 rebounds as well as 3 steals and a block. Andres Carpio had 9 points and 3 assists. Mark Blazek chipped in 7 points. Anthony Keane had 7 points as well.


Travis Godley, Jon Zehe, Aaron Laing, Mike Geisser, Christian Laputka, and Victor Angeline also saw playing time.


In addition the the beginning of the game our captains Chris Ryder, Andres Carpio, and Mark Blazek unveiled our Empire 8 championship banner before the game started.

Tonight we play Elms College at 8 p.m. We will try and improve our record to 9-0. This is the last game of the semester and we will not play at home again until January 13 against Ithica College. Please show up and show your support.

Hartwick vs. SUNY Oneonta tomorrow night

Tomorrow night we will be playing SUNY Oneonta. The men play at 8 p.m. and the women will be playing at 6 p.m. This is for bragging rights for the year. Make sure you wear your Hartwick colors because prizes will be given out for those who show their Hartwick pride.

Hartwick now 7-0






Tonight we beat Morrisville State to become 7-0. The end score was 89-66. We had great play from all the starters as well as several players who came off the bench. We shot 50% from the field which helped us compared to Morrisville's 34.3%. As well as out rebounding Morrisville.


Chris Ryder filled up the box score with 23 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks and a steal. Mark Blazek had 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Anthony Keane had 10 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds, and a steal as well. Andres Carpio had 7 points, 4 assists and 5 rebounds. To fill out the starters Jared Suderley had 7 points, and 5 rebounds.



From the bench Aaron Laing 6 points and 2 rebounds. Christian Laputka had 1 assist, 1 points, 2 steals, and 3 rebounds. Victor Angeline came off the bench and scored 6 points off of 2 threes. Mike Geisser had 2 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists. Jon Zehe had 2 rebounds and 2 points off the bench as well. In addition Travis Godley also had 3 points.


Three freshman also saw some playing time this includes Brendan Griffin, Matt Petruccione, and Ken Johnson Jr.


We are off till Thursday when we take on our cross town rivals SUNY Oneonta. We are playing for bragging rights for the year. The men take the court at 8p.m. while the woman's team plays at 6p.m. If you can make it to the game come and support us as we try to improve to 8-0. The following night we play Elms College at 8p.m.

Hartwick Men's basketball improves to 6-0



Last night we beat Keuka Storm. It was a 72-60 victory. Now we have improved to 6-0. This is our best start since 1987. We had three players who hit double digits in scoring. Jared Suderley had 13 points as well as 14 rebounds and 3 assists. Chris Ryder had 12 points and 8 rebounds. Mark Blazek had 11 points. Andres Carpio had 6 points and Anthony Keane had 8 points as well as 7 rebounds. Great bench play came from Aaron Laing, Mike Geisser, Christian Laputka and Victor Angeline.


We also saw apperences from Jake Karker, Shiva Senthil, Dustin Gratto, Jon Zehe, Mike Henson, Travis Godley, and Matt Petruccione. Matt Petruccione made his first points in college during this game.

Tomorrow afternoon we travel to Morrisville, New York to take on Morrisville State. We play at 3p.m. If you are in the area please come and show us your support as we try to add another win.
